Cannes – Approx. 6,25 miles from the campsite
A city of genuine southern-French character, a rich and varied heritage, magnificent and contemporary with its own, unique added touch of luxury and glamour.
We recommend you start your visit of Cannes with the old town and the famous Suquet district, which you can reach by one of the many steep lanes criss-crossed by picturesque stairways – a pedestrian’s heaven. Must-see sites: the ramparts, Castre museum, the square tower and the religious buildings. Splendid view across the town, the harbour, La Croisette, the Lérins islands and a large part of the Bay of Cannes. At the bottom of the old town is the spiritual centre of Cannes: Forville market with its ring of food stores (butchers, delicatessens, fishmongers, bakers, wine cellars, etc) offers a new insight into a city long viewed as “materialistic”.
